Our Response to Tumar Alexander's Form Letter about the Encampments

A couple weeks ago our friends at Artists Against Abernathy sent a letter to Philly’s new interim Managing Director, Tumar Alexander, sharing their support for the protest encampments and some of the asks we collectively outlined in the #accountabilityjawn document with demands for the future of the Managing Director’s office.

Alexander responded with what we’ve discovered is essentially a form email sent to some others who emailed in support of the encampments. Together, we all noticed he glossed over a few key details and we also had a few…corrections and notes to make in the attached main graphic. Check it out.

We also broke this down into shareable graphics! Check them out on ACT UP Philadelphia’s Instagram.

Thank you to everyone who helped inform this response and counter the City's glossy talking points with facts and real-life experiences: The residents of Camp JTD and Camp Teddy, as well as the organizers and volunteers, helpfuljellyfish, Philadelphia Housing Action, Occupy PHA, and many more.
